On the 28th May, Hacklewood Hill Country House hosted a cosy ‘Gourmet Food and Wine Pairing’ evening in conjunction with Raka Wines.
Hacklewood Hill's acclaimed chef, Charné Pressly prepared a delectable 5 course meal which complemented each blend of wine. The main course comprised of a 'Duo of Duck' - confit duck leg with fondant potato and pan seared duck breast with red wine braised cabbage, Swiss chard purée and a rich duck jus. To follow, deep-fried dark chocolate ice-cream and bread and butter pudding with pears poached in spicy red wine, all served with a hint of nutmeg for dessert.
The next Food and Wine Pairing event at Hacklewood Hill Country House will take place on the 9th June at 19h00. Winemaker, Thys Lourens from Welgemeend wine estate (est. 1979) will be promoting their classic French-styled red blends made in Paarl, Western Cape.
For those more audacious types, The Beach Hotel will be hosting a Whiskey and Chocolate Pairing evening, which will be held in the Private Dining Room. The evening will commence on the 5th June at 6:30pm.
Thami Banda, the brand ambassador from Glenfiddich, alongside Dimakatso Motsepe, a local chocolate artisan from Mma-Arone, will be presenting the exclusive evening.
